Thank you Jason. I am realizing as I hope others are that there is indeed potential here with the new system given practice and a different strategy perhaps.
But I maintain that a game becomes transcendent when more than one strategy can be applied. Especially with the role playing nature of this game there are players who may want to focus on tools of a certain type for leveling up. For examply, someone may choose to maximize their level in Alchemist and depend on the extra resources it explodes to get them farther, working to build a combo with a grand Alchemy explosion as the finale. I personally love seeing that alchemy setup that joins 2 or 3 different resources and practically clears the board. That is a thrilling feeling.
Then there are players such as TheConfused1 who have such an awesome strategy that tools are an afterthought and a bonus.
So, I would encourage you to examine how to move the game in that direction. Allow a player to focus on 1 or 2 tools to the exclusion of others. So, each tool, when used by a skilled expert, can really rock like a 10th level wizard. I mean it seems that this whole thing is perfectly poised for that, but some of the tools are kind of wimpy.

So I guess the question that I would pose to everyone is -- do you want a game with strategy or not? Right now, the chains require strategy. Keep it the way that it is. It's very doable in its current form, and swirling no longer works, so any massive multipliers achieved are all now legitimate. Check this out.
