When I turned on my itouch there was an update for AF. Well, I updated it and now I have no volume at all. Which really freakin sucks! I have no idea what to do. I reinstalled the app and the volume came on, but then went away when it said it was checking the server. Anyone know what I should do?

If you open up the Settings application on your phone there is a new section for Aurora Feint. Toggle the sound settings from On to Off and back to On. That should fix the issue.

Wait a minute! AF can force the sounds on, even with the mute switch on? Why the hell must it do that? If every app assumes this approach, there's gonna be a ton of switches to turn off if you want your iPhone to be quiet.

If every app assumes this approach, there's gonna be a ton of switches to turn off if you want your iPhone to be quiet. The iPod functionality of the iPhone does the same thing. Even if you have your phone in silent mode, it plays out of the speaker. Same thing for selecting a ringtone.

The iPod functionality of the iPhone does the same thing. Even if you have your phone in silent mode, it plays out of the speaker. Same thing for selecting a ringtone. Since their only function is playing out sounds, making those two silent would have crippled them. Anyone who wants to keep quiet won't access those two functions anyway (since they have nothing to offer besides sounds). AF on the other hand doesn't require sounds to be effectively played. It's my opinion that by doing this AF is showing a bad example to all other iPhone developers. Using this functionality should be reserved for apps that have no other function than playing out sounds (though not on their own, but I guess that's not an issue), or may have an urgent need to alert the user of something very important.
