Hello I would like to make update of iPhone OS to 2.1 but with Jailbreak for some reasons (mainly graphical like UserWallpaper function) My question is does doing it will delete my game progress??? Note - Installing Jailbreaked OS needs deleting whole data from iPhone
Thank You for advance

Aurora Feint game data is stored on a remote server, so no, that shouldn't happen. This, of course, is assuming that your data has been updated, which is the case, if your signature data is accurate. The best option, especially is you're concerned about data loss, is to QuickPwn. You will lose your SMS and Notes data though. If that is important to you, there are scripts posted online that can recover this data from your backup files. I've only done this on a Mac. If you have access to a Mac, you can use a program called, "mdhelper." It can be downloaded from here. THe instructions for running this file are here.

Oh SMS and Notes are not big deal for now but thank You for info Hmmm so I guess You mean that I will update normally to 2.1 and then QuickPwn will Jailbreak it or it will first "hack" 2.1 firmware and then I will use hacked one to install to iPhone??? Yes Signature was synchronized by some script being AF productivity that read from my iPhone UID data and voila ^_^ so I will look for QuickPwn for now... Thank You for help Subaru P.S. - I added You one Karma for help

Yes, you need to update first. When you jailbreak, you jailbreak the software that is currently installed.

Come on guys, don't talk about jailbreaks here... It's really bad and be careful, it voids your warranty.

It's okay to talk about it. There is nothing illegal or immoral about it. Yes, if you do something that screws up your device, it will not be covered under warranty. However, it's a simple matter to restore everything back to factory settings if a need should arise.

However, this topic doesn't belong in this forum. I'm moving it to Free For All.

Oh my mistake for choosing section - I'm sorry Yes as far as I know Jailbreak as it is don't loose warranty, if it would be getting off SimLock then yes, but it only opens File System, plus I made already once totall screw of file system, Googled 15 minutes totally stressed and recovered iPhone somehow...but woah that was adventure ;D Anyway I have collected everything needed to this operation so I will write down applications installed already, send AF progress to server...pray...and start update... Commencing Mission

Sorry for double posting but edit will not be noticed by system Mission Completed, after Jailbreak it read correctly data from AF server and recovered save One more word about Jailbreak, when I was making update to 2.1 version it displayed changelog and was mentioned about third party programs so it looks like Jailbreak itself is not illegal or something... Because of completed mission topic can be closed if needed Thank You once again for help

It is not illegal. That's why I said that we can discuss it.

Haha first said don't talk now want ;D To Jailbreak You need certain program, for iPhone 3G the best would be QuickPwn and WinPwn but second one doesn't support 2.1 yet I think You must first update normally to 2.1 and then use QuickPwn Don't worry about breaking system...I had it (but not in Jailbreaking) and after 1 hour on Googling I was able to recover whole system somehow ;D it was scary and fun experience ;D

No worries. If you need some help, just send me a PM. I have an email that I've already written with detailed instructions for a co-worker. Drop me a note with your email address, and I'll send it to you too.
