So I log in, go to the mine and play. And play. And play and play and play and play. And nothing EVER happens. Or changes. I just get the little gems, but no tools or leveling up or anything like that. Is that what's supposed to happen? Or am I not playing long enough? I played for like 45 minutes...I figured something should happen by then...
I can't buy anything because it says I have to level up in the mine, so I go back to the mine and play and play and play...
Is this how it's supposed to be? Should I uninstall and reinstall?
TIA!

4 views and no reply? Did all 4 of you have the same problem? Surely someone has seen it that has leveled up and can at least sympathize. : ] I want to play

I have the same problem. I never level up. On the youtube video tutorial, it looks like leveling up is a sort of popup. I just mine away to thousands of blocks and nothing ever happens.

This is definitely a bug. Never leveled up once? Try visiting the shop, the smith, and the tower to see if something is there. You may have to build the first item in the smith before you can level up. If none of that works, try re-installing the app.

Ok. Thanks so far...BUT.
I tried uninstalling, from iphone and itunes on my mac, but whenever I reinstall it, it has all my old info...I have the same number of gems in my inventory, the same character avatar etc. How do I completely remove it so I can get a fresh start?

It is synced with the web, until we give you a way to delete your account and start a new one you cannot start over. It is on the features to add list.

It is in the next update. Since we havent managed to get the update out we pulled it and added "reset character levels" and "rest community information". Please look for the update this week. Hopefully by Friday.

Pulled it? With all this clamoring for *some* kind of fix? Why not just release one then the other when it's ready?

Because we actually have a technical problem with the update release software keeping the update from going out (we have found a bug). The update has been finished and in the works for several days. Please be patient and realize we are doing everything we can to get this out to you.
Thanks.

This particular aspect of gameplay doesn't look like a bug to me right now, but it could be better explained. _Really_ leveling up the 8-level categories doesn't happen until you complete the Smith challenges. And to do that you first need to buy the blueprint for the last level you attained, IIRC. The problem comes in where your "exp" bar eventually stops keeping pace with the cost of the blueprints. Like skif said, if your exp bar is filled, buy a blueprint if you can afford it and you will "level up" the next mine you enter the mine.
Until the update's in, there's still lots of fun to have. I've leveled most of my core skills to 6/8 and I don't care that I have nothing much to show for it =). Figure out setting up combos, working with the accelerometer, playing at the "hidden" speeds. You'll be that much better when all the items and tools come into play.

You'll be that much better when all the items and tools come into play. The bug we are talking about here is being stuck at level zero--you NEVER level up no matter how long you play. That is why they are putting a reset in (well, one reason--some people may just want to start over).
