I have been playing II - Area for 2 days now, and am enjoying quite a bit (and have no crashes at all). I am not a big multiplayer person, only will play friends once in a blue moon, so I'd love to have the mining and store/etc. as fun as possible.
I see that the armor / items are gone in AF2. I was hoping these would get better, not go away. I think it would be great to combine the MMO aspect with the fantasy / DnD role playing type functionality.
So, there could be adventures with monsters (like random computer generated ghosts) where you can find items and equip them. So in addition to weapons, you can have a helmet, breast plate, boots, etc. Each armor would have certain characteristics (like armor class -- reduced damage, resource boosting, multiplier enhancing, etc.)
Why I would find this so much fun and more addicting is that it gives you incentive to keep playing to find new and different items and maybe even new and improved attributes.
This would make the arena different too as you may battle someone with all attack oriented equipment or one who is all defense and it would change up the strategy.
Glad I upgraded and bought the new one, hope to see where the upgrades lead to and hope that a paid upgrade to a version 3 is not too soon.
Thanks

I was disapointed that armor seemed to be removed as well. Especially when in the 1Up preview of the Arena it said that your armor would be viewable by other players.
I agree with you that if they added armor and another PvE aspect to the game it would be that much better. Once you max out your stats, there isn't much reason to play unless you're playing against others. Which isn't for everyone.
I am glad I upgraded as well, it's a good upgrade. But at the same time I feel disapointed. In other words, I wish I didn't upgrade right away.

I agree with the additional armour, equipment, etc. I'm in favor of anythng to enhance the game.

I would add that the random ghosts, generated possibly by level or your own ghosts stats, would be interesting. Possibly using the Tavern as a "safe" zone?

Just another thought that may be worth considering:
A way for people to create their own quests / adventures and submit them. This would involve creating ghosts in the game and some story line. If someone gets to the end of the quest without losing (or losing too many times) they get some kind of award at the end (like armor). So someone could create ghosts to match the story line (choice of weapons) and such.
This would keep the game growing but put less stress on the developers. Then just having a "report this quest", "report this item" type functionality to let users police the quality?
Then people could search or browse for quests. Quests could be given ratings to make it easier to find fun & well made ones.

I agree, I think a more extensive armor/weapon set, giving a player a constant bonus in battles and to use on their ghosts would be a nice feature and help the RPG appeal of the game.
For Example- For every ghost you beat you earn "experience" or "money"/gold and you can either unlock armor and weapons with experience, or buy it with money.
And I think having the custom quests/adventures with custom armors would be an awesome feature! As long as submissions were moderated by either jason/danielle I guess.
