AF The Beginning will return and AF II Lite will be back with your issues addressed!
To all AF: The Beginning Users: We updated AF: The Beginning to a new version AF II: Lite with the same features, but also with ads and some new gameplay/weapons. We took away the original Beginning because we believed AF II: Lite was a better product, and we needed to pay for the server costs of running an online game. However, while some of you agree with our opinion, many of you indicated through reviews and mails to us that you did not appreciate the new version. In particular you thought there was too much lag and the ads were too easy to click on. So we pulled it from the App Store today so you are not forced to update to it.
We are listening to you and we have decided to:
a. Bring back the original AF: The Beginning as a client only app for those who want to keep it forever b. Release AF II Lite separately for those who think they want to move to the new product
We want your opinion: Do you want us to do the above? We want to make you happy so please tell us!!
Jason and Danielle

YES! This is very important to me at least.
AFII has some interesting elements but it complicates the use of the game so much that i don't want to play it. The online elements and their effect on the battery alone is a good reason to never ever play it. Many people just want to have fun playing AFBeginning, we don't need chat.
I think that at some point you can probably get AFII to the point where everyone is ready to switch, but for now a lot of people will want the stablility of the original game.
For example, when I bought AFII I wish I'd recieved a copy of AF Begninng that just had more levels, I'm sorry that your work seems a big counterproductive, but that's the fact.
If nothing else you need to add a setting to the af config pane (you should also add a link to that to the UI, unless there's one i didn't see) to turn off all network activity. That would probably fix all the issues i had with it.

oh yeah, me again. Just wanted to make clear that I'd also like to be able to play AF: Beginning without uninstalling AFII. I'm still interested in the new versions, but I definitely want access to both.

I agree with jeremyclarke that the game should have an option to switch on/off network activities. I bought the Beginning instead of the Arena because I thought Arena had network activities and the Beginning did not. When I started playing I noticed the chatting going on, and I really donĀ“t want to chat or be connected to the Internet all the time when playing.
Is there an option to switch this off or do I have to wait for a new version of the game?
Thanks.

I ended up uninstalling everything, but I do miss the game. I had done the update from the free version as recommended by the app store, and then couldn't get more than about 1-2 minutes of play before the thing crashed. So I uninstalled it, as recommended, but couldn't re-install it. I was playing on an iPod and it tells me the new versions are not compatible - only for iPhone. I'd love to turn back the clock 2 weeks, when I could play for hours, and not have done the upgrade. But too late for me. Please bring back the game that was compatible with the iPod touch, don't make me connect to the internet, and I'd be happy to pay for the product or install it in a "share-ware" model where I'll make a donation. I don't need (nor want) chat - I just want to play.

I agree with jeremyclarke and martha. I like the new game too but I don't want to be connected to the internet all the time. It eats up battery and slow to play. I want the Beginning back. Don't mind to keep the new game for a try.
Thanks!

We are working on that now. I will report back when I know the release date and exact details.

The appstore said I to update a couple of days ago, but when I updated to AFII:Lite (which replaced "Beginning") and tried to sign in, it said that I already have "Beginning" and thus will not need "Lite". Good thing I still hadn't synced with iTunes and could re-install "Beginning" from my Mac.
So, I don't actually have any experience with "Lite", although like the previous comments, it would be nice to be able to have both "Lite" and "Beginning" on my ipod at any one time so I can try it out.

Any chances that you will make "dont go online" option in "arena" and "Lite" versions? Thank you.

Please help miya@suchrubbish.com My issue was fixed! I couldn't even remember my old username and password, much less my previous device's Identifier Number...just my character's name. I figured an answer to my issue was a lost cause. Danielle saw my message here and emailed me and had my issue fixed in a snap. Thank you so much Danielle!
