I have a question about getting a new iPhone. I have the Edge version right now, but I have ordered the 3G version from my local AT&T store. Is my character specifically tied to a particular phone, or it is tied to my phone number? I know the app will copy over fine to the new phone, but I'm curious if I need to hold off on any serious leveling up when I get the new one.

I think, if you wait for the update, the phone syncs with the server and you should be able to transfer the data from that, I'm not 100% though, you should ask the dev's. I suppose, if iTunes backed up your phone and then you transfered that backup to your new one, then that would work.

a backup thing could work. (it will probably duplicate the account but it might work )

Well, I tracked the package and saw that the new phone will be delivered tomorrow by 3pm. Since I was planning on resetting my character after the upgrade, I guess I don't have much of a wait. Heck, my new phone might even beat out the update on getting here. :-)

Well, it doesn't fit in the "bug" forums... and this is for "General chat about the game". Pretty general, isn't it?

Do a search. Danielle posted something about the same sort of issue to someone else's question. I think it was in the Account thread. I know it isn't tied to your phone number because there are iPod touch users out there too who don't have phone numbers.

It will probably duplicate the acount name, but you should be able to restore from backup and it should work. Emphasis on should.

Interestingly enough, I just upgraded to my new 3g iPhone. I plugged it into my Mac at home during lunch, and did a "restore". It copied over all of my apps, and I was able to continue where I left off. I won't know if it's actually recording what I do on the server until after the update probably (or when the signatures go back online.)

I think it's because the backup copied my offline data over. I don't know if it is actually updating on the server.

Oh that's right...jason was saying something about them turning off the community servers, not sure if that has anything to do with this or not.

It's tied to your Device ID.
