My game got stuck in this state where it will not start up anymore. The cause of the problem seems to be related to completing a mining game while my phone was without any Internet access (no 3g, edge, or wifi).
The game hung when I completed the mining game. I think it got stuck trying to upload the data to the servers. I suspended the game by hitting the suspend/power button on top of my phone.
Later when I start the game, it says loading, then kicks me back out to the home everytime.

I've been playling a lot after the update, now all of a sudden it's just not starting up. I launch the app and between 8-10 seconds later the loading screen just disappears and I'm back to the iPhone home screen.
Just to be clear. Where is my character data? On your server or on my iPhone? I want to try a reinstall, but I don't want to lose my progress (and I do my installing for the app store on the iPhone, I don't sync with iTunes).
My game on my iPod touch continues to work very well but the copy on my iPhone fails crashes upon every attempt to start it. If I delete it and reinstall it it will start at the beginning splash screen. That screen disappears but the music continues for a while and the screen goes dark. Eventually the music stops. If I touch the button on the bottom of the iPhone the game starts up and I can play it from the beginning. There will be no crashes but if I stop the game and try and restart it I am back to the start up crash.
Working with an iTouch, freshly deleted-and-reloaded copy of AF, played a song ("This is the Day" by The The), AF still "crashing" upon startup. By "crashing" I mean, going into the "loading..." screen and then dumping back out to the iTouch home screen.
I have to echo the comments made by many others, though -- very nice game, beautiful art, enjoyable play, etc.
iPhone 2G. 16BG 15GB Free AF Will Not Start: Latest version
Get "Loading page for 10-15 seconds then returns to springboard. Playing music, checking, email, playing another game didn't help. Reboot help 2 out of 3 times. 3 Crashes requiring restart in 3 days. Approximately 4 hours play time before carsh occurs. Reinstallation has corrected problem each time. After last reset began backing up app folder between sessions. Restoration from backup did not fix crash. Deleting files in "Documents" directory corrected problem but some permissions are now set incorrectly due to backup. Will give more details next crash... Sending crash logs. For cyberbiker and others crash logs are in "/private/var/mobile/Library/Logs/CrashReporter and start with "iMMo_"
Was having trouble with crash on startup. Seemed to begin after upgrade, but I had also added quite a bit of software to my phone, much of which I didn't really want. Since I had all my calendar, e-mail & contact info all organized on my computer, I decided to start from scratch:
Reset iPhone to factory settings.
Copied all of my software from the iTunes Applications section off to a thumb drive
Deleted all of the software that was in iTunes
Copied the 5 programs I wanted back to the iTunes application library
Clicked on the "Check for Updates" button in the bottom right of the screen. This led me to the iTunes App store where all of the programs were downloaded (free) again. I wanted to make sure I started with the most current versions.
Installed about 5 programs that I really needed by setting the "Applications" tab of my iphone to Sync only checked software and picked the software I really wanted.
Adjusted the calendar and contact settings to my liking
Synchronized my iphone.
Tried AF & it worked for the first time since the upgrade, even the mining tools work now.
I decided to SLOWLY add back the rest of the programs I wanted one at a time to see if there are any conflicts between AF and other software. Don't know why there would be, just trying to keep track of what is going on.
Now I will go back and add back my music, etc. so I can get a backup of my iphone in working order.
Anyone know if there is a way to have more than one copy of the backup of your iPhone?
I know this is a bit drastic, but I couldn't get AF to work at all, so I just decided to start from the beginning.
Same thing here ...it's driving me crazy loading screen comes up then it kicks to home screen after 10-15 secs I am pretty far into the game and do not want to try to remove and reinstall if it means losing all my progress. Can someone tell me if I will lose all data like the pop up says if I reinstall?
When I reinstalled I lost everything. Each app runs in its own folder which is deleted upon uninstall.
I haven't had much luck with a restore. One nice feature that Apple should consider for the future is a "Refresh" option to reinstall software without overwriting data for when an app gets corrupted. I don't believe the manner in which the apps are packaged allows for this currently. After my last crash I erased the files in my "Documents" folder and the game started working again. The files in this folder appear, from thier titles, to store game progress and current state but I didn't have to start over so some settings must be stored elsewhere (on the AF server?). Note: You must have an app on your phone that allows access to the file structure of your phone to get to the game and log folders.
Just wanted to add that this is happening to me as well, after starting the game it loads for about 10secs and then goes back to the app screen. This is on an iPhone 3G 16GB. Power cycle doesn't seem to help. I have sent a crash log to the developers.
Pretty bummed as I really really like this game so far. Definitely the best game I've seen so far and shows a lot of promise.
Luckily for me I also have a ipod touch that has it installed and I won't be upgrading to the latest version on that. :-)
