Ok, we all know there is a crash bug, and so many people are saying that they have to reboot there iPhone/iPod. This works on my iPod Touch 16GB and should work on everyone's.
Because this bug is caused due to hangs in the system, it means that the hardware is pretty much still functional.
So... I hear you cry, this means that you can force quit the application, which means that you don't have to wait a minute or two for the iPhone/iPod to load. All you have to do is press and hold the home button for about 10-20 seconds, this should force the application to close and will take you back to the home screen.
When the game crashes just try this and tell me if it works or not. (It should do)

Looks like a viable workaround. You can tell if the hardware (and indeed the AF software is still ok by trying to take a screenshot (home button + power button). The screen will flash if successful.
If so, then the force quit should work.
I'll be honest, I find just waiting for the phone to go to sleep itself seems to be the best solution. Forcing the quit, seems to leave AF is a strange state where the phone often requires a reboot to continue running. If you let it go to sleep itself, AF seems to come back ok.

AF will still work fine after a force quit, but you will loose any progress you made. It is best to go back to the springboard every so often if your playing, just incase it fudges up. The only problem with letting the phone go to sleep is that it takes a while, so you could set it to the minimum of 1 minute.

It does work, though once it crashed so bad that the device automatically restarted itself.

It does work, though once it crashed so bad that the device automatically restarted itself. This can be due to RAM issues. The iPod/iPhone think, "oh no, I don't have enough RAM, what do I do?!?" and it restarts to free up RAM. Clever but annoying

I KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEMMMMMM!!!!! ok so i have the iphone 3g and i was experiencing the same problem with the freezing and not loading. Basically i read in an earlier post that it might be an audio problem and was suggested to listen to a song on the ipod before loading the game again...many people later posted that it still would not load after listening to music. The game does have a bug where the game will not load if it crashed due to an audio problem. Basically heres what to do.... Step 1: before you click on the game adjust your volume on the side of the iphone or itouch (either up or down, preferably both that's what i did) Step 2: click the game and as it is loading ( where it says "takes about 30 seconds to load") adjust the volume in the same manner. the game should load instantaneously. have fun

iPod touches don't have volume buttons. Lovely if it works on an iPhone though.
