Smith & Tools not showing up

When i build a blueprint i can select upto 3 tools to help, but they never show up in the game?

Do you select the tools and then they randomly show up, might be that i have just never seen them or is there a bug that stops them showing up?

This is not well documented, but it has been reported in a couple other places on this forum. After selecting the tools and starting the challenge, double-tap on a block to bring up the menu. Here you can choose one of your selected tools to replace the selected block with.
