Just this morning I started AF and now the phone is COMPLETELY FROZEN on the loading screen.
I CAN NOT hard stop the phone by holding the off button I CAN NOT get the phone to respond to any of its controls I tried calling the phone and it goes straight to voice mail I tried plugging the phone into the wall and it DID NOT respond to power
ANY help on how to get my phone back in a working state would be appreciated. It is scary that this or any other application can crash the phone this hard.
Has anyone else experianced this?

Hard-power off the phone. Hold the home and sleep/wake buttons down for 5 seconds or so and your phone will power off. Then turn it back on as normal.
I've had the game crash the phone like this before too - 90% sure it's related to the audio system.

That's the point...
I CAN NOT HARD POWER OFF
none of the buttons work, all I can do is watch the loading screen.
This is frankly scary.

That's strange. Any time I've seen it get stuck like that (and I've actually seen worse - it was stuck on the home screen after crashing, but the audio kept looping a .5-second sample loudly), I could power off by holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons down together until it shut off - try holding it at least 10 seconds. This is hardware (like the power button on your computer) so it shouldn't not work.
If this really doesn't work, did you try connecting to iTunes? If it connects, maybe you can initiate a restore?
Other options could be to wait until the battery runs out and it shuts off that way or to take it down to the Apple Store.

Ok, finally was able to shut it off 2 hours later. Then promptly uninstalled. with 58,000,000 crystals it had become slightly less fun anyway.

Ouch. Glad it finally came to though. For reference, what did you do to get it to respond again?
