I've tried this trick a few times. It results in an instant level up, and a huge amount of resources. The worst return was ~2500 air tokens. The highest I've gotten in a single move has been about 150,000 water tokens and over 2,000,000 earth tokens (both water and earth tokens were obtained in the same move). I have over 150,000 tokens for every type except air, which is around 6500, and I'm not even close to finishing all my level ups.
The trick is just combining a furie token with an alchemist token, with the activating elemental token being the type you want to harvest. Alchemist tokens destroy every like-colored token on the grid while a furie token gives you triple value (but not really -- it seems to give you 3^num_tokens, instead of 3*num_tokens). So if there are 12 water tokens on the map, I would get something like 3^12 = 531441 water tokens. If you activate with more than one color type (which is possible if you use two tool tokens! ex. in a vertical stack, having fire, alchemist, fury, shadow.) then you can both harvest two different elemental types AND increase that exponent to double value.
Now, it does take a lot of effort to keep your alchemist token insulated from stuff while you wait for a furie token, but it's far from impossible. I would say that it's pretty game-breaking since I'll never need to worry about resources again.

You beat me to it. I just noticed something was weird with that today and narrowed it down to the furie and alchemist together. Well done!
(Read: I'm seeing the same issue here too.)

Sorry, I was mistaken. I don't have quite as many resources as I thought I did. Here are my current stats:
Fire 119,118 Air 9,443 Water 1,514,805 Shadow 14,880 Earth 2,729,586 (yes, almost 3 million)
I'm "Enlightened Level 0", whatever that means
I have: 6/8 Dreameater 7/8 Alchemist 2/8 Time Stopper 4/8 Strategist 6/8 Furie 2/8 Sorcerer
4/4 Wind 1/4 Water 3/4 Earth 3/4 Shadow
38/64 = 59% through progression, but I have enough resources for just about anything.

Best result yet -- I got about 595 million crystals in one move. I can't tell how many of each token I have, except for shadow, which has only 15,000. I have a total of over 601 million crystals now. It's gotten to the point where I pretty much just stall until I get a furie and an alchemist token to come up near each other, as levelling up that way is easier than doing it the "right" way.

Also, this isn't related to orientation, since I usually play without rotating the board at all (it's kind of slow to react to rotation, so I just don't deal with it 95% of the time).

I had this same problem on my account. In one go I got thirteen million resources.

This trick doesn't seem to work in smithing though, strangely enough. I tried comining furie and alchemist tokens in the smith, and I can't seem to get over ~12 of one or two token types. The final levels are hard!

I'll have to be careful to avoid this. If it was something you could because it's cool, then undo it I might give it a shot, but if it's permanent it kinda ruins the game.

What I have noticed while playing is that if you get lucky with an alchemist and a furie power block in the same move you can sometimes unlock thousands even millions of resources! It has worked for me several times and I now have 38 mill crystals and 6 digits in each resource! I think that combining power blocks gives an extra bonus, or something? I completely agree with fierysthingy becasue it has happened to me.

One more with the same problem. Mine just got worse, though. I kept playing in spite of the issue, leveled up one more time, exited the game, and now i can't get back in, even after rebooting the iPhone. I hope this doesn't mean i have to start again from the beginning!

Yeah, I couldn't get back in either, so I redownloaded the game (this worked once before). Now it wants me to make a new character. Awesome. I really don't want to start over, so I guess I'm finished playing the game.

I just got 1,133,556,219 crystals. I had no idea how I had done it until I read here. Thanks.
