I am new to this game and wondering if there is anyway when building blueprints is there anything I can use to help me get more of the blocks I need?

Yes... let's say you need fire. Get a fire match ready to go, but leave it one move short. Set up multiple matches on the board, and do them all as quickly as you can, with fire last. If you plan it right, you can easily get 3-4x the fire.

I have noticed a significant difference to the difficulty as i went on holiday recently for 2 weeks and i didnt have many resources crystals etc and by the end of it without loads of playing i had 38000 crystals in the end but i lost my account in an update and had to restore it from a previous backup so i lost most of what i had done and i only had a few thousand crystals in the end so i have carried on and now i have noticed that it is alot harder to get crystals and resources as you could get alot more before. Also with blueprints i was struggling on some higher level blueprints before but because some of my stats have dropped im now struggling on some slightly lower levels

the balancing issues I thought were going to be implemented regarding smithing requirements (140/140/10/40 type things) were not, and its now harder to combo, and blocks pop and fall into place slower. Step in the wrong direction imo.

This update wasn't intended to adjust the game difficulty. This update was a bug fix (as is the next one now). The next point release is supposed to adjust the difficulty. Hang in there; good things are coming.

Weirdly I've found it easier to finish those 140/140/10/10 blueprints now. Whereas before I was only getting about 80% I'm now able to complete it, usually with at least 15 seconds spare. I know it's not me just getting better because it was a literal overnight change.

I've finally been able to get 2 140 blueprints finished since the update (with barely 1 or 2 seconds to spare), but I can't seem to get higher than 150 on 1 or 2 resources when they need 180.

The update 1.0.1.1 seems to have made it even more difficult to get multipliers. If a set had popped and I quickly swiped a block into position for another set - it used to get me a 2x multiplier for the second, but now it does nothing. I only get multipliers when the blocks fall into position themselves I am disappointed as I was waiting for this update to start playing again after the last one made it so difficult! It now seems even more difficult - aarrrgggghhh! Maybe I'm just rubbish

Interesting that people think it is more difficult ... Is nobody really paying attention.
There are three main changes: Multiplyers are more difficult. I hear a lot of moaning about it here. They now function the way they should have worked before. Mining resources now get the bonus from the magic books (and I guess from the items as well). Example - I swipe three fire in a row and I get 5 fire. Again - I think this is how it should have been from the start. Crystals don't get the multiplier anymore. You swipe three fire - you get three crystals.
What does this mean for game play?
Leveling up takes longer. I wouldn't say it is more difficult - as it isn't 'difficult' to level up. But you get approx. only half as many crystals as before with less multiplyers and no bonus. So it takes approx. twice as long. This is NOT including any weird combos which could speed up the whole mining even a lot more. Sometimes they only gave you 200 resource - not thousands - but even this speeded up the mining.
Blueprints are easier if you play in a regular fashion. You loose some points due to less multiplyers - but you gain at least 67% (5 Fire instead of 3). Depending on game play this should give you overall maybe a boost of 20-40%. This is in line with people here reporting that they now manage a blueprint which they only managed to get 80% done in the past.
To test it out: I just finished Furie - Mastery in Reach - which needs 100 resources each in 240 (241?) seconds. I managed in the first try with just some seconds spare.
I haven't yet tried the Furie tool in anger (I prefer the alchemist tool while mining). So I will have to see how far I get with the other blue prints. Some will be still out of reach - but the 140 ones seem doable for me now.
Thod
PS: I haven't tried swiping yet. Anyone with information about the swiping technique and how it works now?

I'm glad that you and a few others find it easier to complete the 140/140/10/40 plans now. I find them MUCH more difficult. You must just be better than me. WTB adjustable difficulty settings, cause I can't go any further with the changes made to the game, thus no incentive for me to play.

The previous update killed my account. Just for kicks, I started to go through all of the challenges using ZERO tools, to see if it really is as difficult as many people are saying.
What I found is that by using strategy, I've been able to complete EVERY level that I've attempted by simply planning my moves ahead for an entire screen worth of elements.
I got to level 7 on a few, but I hadn't yet had the crystals to purchase a level 8 smith challenge.
My point is, it can definitely be done, and with the right strategy, it can even be done easily!
After the last update deleted my character, I've reset multiple times (four, I believe).
This newest update though, brought my character back to life! I'm torn, because I've nearly completed all of the challenges again, but now that progress has been replaced with my previous, completed game!
I sent Danielle a PM. I'm hoping she can just take away my resources manually. Having 2.14 billion of everything takes away the fun of the game, but I'm also not necessarilly ready to start over again.

Well I barely managed to copmlete the 140 ones... It would be nice for it to become a little bit easier though!

Swiping doesn't give you the extreme multipliers anymore, but it can still be useful when it's the right time to be panicking! Like if the screen is full and you're not spotting any sets, just swiping a few times lower down, and chances are that one or two sets will form, letting you rescue the situation.
I had to restore my phone recently, and lost my 8/7/7/7/7/7/90 state. I've played back to a point where I'm about to tackle level 6 blueprints, and so far doing the blueprints with normal technique (no swiping, no complicated combination setting up) has been fun, and achievable. It seems like the time allowed is a lot higher, perhaps 340 seconds instead of 240. Also, as someone else pointed out, the bonus multiplying seems to be working.

I think it's just too hard at present. Yes, a very skilled player can rack up insane combinations and breeze through challenges easily, but most games are not catered exclusively to their most skilled players.
Whether I actually try to complete the smithing challenges legitimately or just scatter blocks around randomly and hope for the best, I always fail the final few levels of challenges for the exact same reason. I'll have about 150% of each of four resource types, 70% of the fifth, and there won't be a single block of the fifth type on screen. I find it extremely frustrating and almost offensive to lose a game of skill due to random chance, it just doesn't feel right.
Overall, Aurora Feint is very fun, but the difficulty of the smithing challengs is problematic at later levels.
I really like the Tower challenges though, and I wish there were about 200 more. Granted, they're much easier to cheat at if you want to, but they're very fun little intellectual challenges, and having an explicit cap on the number of moves you can make is a good way to force you to think carefully. Some of the challenges here though are just senselessly easy. Oh, and there's one challenge where one of the steps invovles flipping your ipod/iphone upside down, which is pretty much 100% impossible without the iPhone interpreting it as "flip sideways, THEN flip upside down", which forces you to start the challenge with the phone upside down already. Kind of a clunky design, but not a big deal overall.

Uh, I kind of skimmed through these forums. And yeah, level 2 blueprint is way to hard. And very frustrating. It has nearly ruined the game for me too! But nah. Aurora is fantastic :] The time either needs to be way longer (maybe same as an average mine run) or the requirements to be mined decreased to at least 40 for level 2.
