I love this game, even though I barely know what's going on in it!
I have a Touch, so it's important to know when to turn on wifi. How does the game use the Net? How much is local and what does it send to "the server"?

I was just wondering the same thing. I played today while in airplane mode on my phone and was curious when/how everything synced to the server. Thanks!

Everytime you start the app and at "key" moments in the game it is synced. As long as it syncs before an uninstall you should be able to hypothetically get your character back! Your friends will see your most recent sync information.
In a future release we will try to have feedback about whether your current stats are or are not synced.

Everytime you start the app and at "key" moments in the game it is synced Since there's no way to stop wifi while the game is on, we would have to keep the connection on all the time? Wouldn't that be quite power draining?

Ummm... I guess maybe. Do you turn the WiFi off on your phone when you aren't actively using it? I definitely don't. That is interesting. The way Aurora Feint works you would be best to have it on while playing.

I'm just dropping into the current topic. Of all the times I've played Aurora, I've never had Wifi on and my game always returns to how I left it. I'm using an iPhone EDGE but I'm not subscribed to use EDGE services?

When you get home and go on wifi everything that you did while out and about will sync. That's what I was hoping to hear! I often turn off wifi even in the house because my Touch gets noticably warm when it's on. Plus it makes a big difference in battery drain. Glad to know I can safely turn off wifi while out and about!

Your data and stats are stored on the servers, so it's somewhat important. Also, if you would like to look at your friends data you will need a connection.

My iPod gets hot (when it does) in the center, and it is usually when using cpu intensive stuff, like Aurora Feint of Cro-Mag-Rally. Nonetheless, I can assure you from my experience with laptops that turning off wifi saves battery. Ditto with bluetooth for the iPhones.

iPod/iPhone also warms up when charging especially with a mains charger, i advise to leave iPod/iPhone to charge, then continue play ;D
