If AF will not start for you.(10-15 sec then home)

Here is my experience. AF was not working for me at all, I tried every update, restarting, volume trick thing, and still nothing. So i took the plunge.

I restored the phone to a brand new phone. No backup loaded and AF worked!!

My best guess is that the first time i tried to play the game i got a bad save file and it stuck with the updates until i did a clean restart.

I know it sucks but it worked. I hope this helps others with this problem.

Isn't there some way to clean out the save file without restoring the whole iphone?

Just delete the app, and re-download it. There is no need to completely restore!

The key to making this work is that when you reinstall the application you cannot reinstall it by syncing with iTunes. When you backup your applications on iTunes the save files are stored and then reloaded when you sync with iTunes.

If your game will not get past the loading screen is is HIGHLY probable that your local save file has been corrupted. You need to reinstall without syncing this file in order to get back to a state where the game will work. If your progress had been saved on our servers prior to the break you should be able to retrieve your save data.

I tried deleting AF and then re downloading it without itunes but that would never work. The only way i got the game to start was to get rid of the backed up file that i had on my phone from when the game would not start. I believe that whatever was corrupting the game and not allowing it to start had been backed up and therefore i never really got rid of it.

As an update though since i have did a full restore to a new phone everything has worked wonderfully and the game starts up every time!!

How do you get rid of this file? I have deleted AF on my iPhone and reloaded from the App Store instead of iTunes. It plays once and then I'm back to the same crash issues. In fact I have now had to restore my iPhone 3 times and crashed my phone so bad the Geniuses could not save it so I had to get a whole new phone. I just don't have 4 hours a day to devote to going to the Apple Store to fix my iPhone. Normal crash fixes and restores don't seem to work when this one crashes. It crashes the worst when it's installing.

Do I reload it from the App Store and create a new character so it doesn't use that save file or do I have to delete my entire phone? I would rather not lose everything on my phone to play the game even though I'm addicted at this point. How do I get rid of this file?

My local savefile seems to corrupt itself upon exit, even from a fresh install ( I can play once, then I have to delete and reinstall). If I turn off WiFi to prevent a resync from the server, the same thing happens. Sure is odd.

I see the same problem as others are reporting. After each re-install, everything is fine until you close and then try to re-open the program. The program then terminates.

I've deleted from iTunes and the iTouch, and re-installed using the iTouch without syncing, and the same problem returns each time.

I don't think I've done anything unusual except syncing to a Vista computer. I use an iPod Touch.

It is a bother because this is a nice game.

Ever since the AF update, I have been unable to run AF on my iPhone. I have since upgraded to an iPhone 3G but AF still won't work. I have deleted AF from my iPhone and reinstalled from the iPhone (not through iTunes as recommended by Danielle) MANY times but I have not been able to run AF for several weeks. Any suggestions or help?

I noticed two more things:
1. If I delete the program and immediately reinstall (with no sync), it does not start me like a new users with a request to choose a character. Clearly something is stored somewhere. I haven't tested whether turning off WiFi prevents the recognition, so I don't know if the stored material is on the iTouch or on the Web. (To do so I'd need to delete and reinstall, which is a bit of a bother).
2. After a reinstall, I'm sent right to the mines after some message about attaining goals, and there is no back arrow at the top left of the mine. I don't know if that is normal, but I can rack up 600 points and still no back arrow.

I uninstalled, restarted the iTouch, reinstalled, turned off WiFi, and restarted the iTouch. The program then treated me like a new user, and asked me to choose a character. Also, the progress bar moved and I got stuff when it reached the end. However, after leaving the program (by pressing the menu button from the Party screen), launching the program led to the program closing after 20 seconds as before.

I am getting good at playing the first level, but it is getting a bit old

Good news for me. This morning I updated Cydia - AF crashed like before. One hour ago I rebooted my iPhone and AF works again! It is worth trying it out.

AF will not load for me anymore. I installed the new update and it played fine for a day or two, now it crashes back to the home screen while 'checking account status on server".

The only way around this is to turn on airplane mode on my 3G, and then the game will load fine every time.

Great game by the way, hope the bugs get ironed out soon

AF crashed for me again. I reset the iPhone, but AF would not load again, just like last time. I reinstalled it and lost all of my data, but it played. I just tried to play it again and it won't load. I was really into the new version too. I had gotten quite far in just a couple of days, but now it's all gone again. Please help!

I got the new update and lost my info. I just started over from the beginning. While it was disappointing, I could deal. Now however, I am stuck. I got to a point where I was ready to level up, but I am unable to choose the next level and the game returns me to the home screen. I have tried turning off my iTouch and returning but still the same issue is there. It seemed to work fine after the update but now nothing. I guess I'll wait for the hot fix and see what happens.
