Ok, so I'm not sure what some of the tools do in the mining game part. I've used them in the smith (and understand them even less there). It seems that some of them have a clear effect. Some of them make other stuff explode, some make time stop (but seems to come back if you tilt the screen). What does the hammer do? It seems to mark some blocks. I've tried to immediately clear those blocks, but that didn't yield a result either. Any ideas?

There are basic descriptions of each tool's use in the inventory screen. Why the hammer make certain tile blink remains a mystery to me. It's description doesn't mention it, and it is exactly the same description as the skull tool, so I think it might be a mistake.

I think you are supposed to try to get 2x multipliers with the hammer.

The description for the Furie tool says "Nearby blocks are supercharged with a x3 multiplier for 3.0 seconds." I think the Strategist tool is supposed to be a x2 version of the Furie tool but I've yet to actually see the bonus. Oh well, next update maybe.

I have been wondering what the Alchemist and Sorcerer blocks do. Any ideas?

Dreameater is the best, it just blows everything up!

Yeah, I've gotten the hammer to "charge" block before, but I don't see any multiplier if I "pop" them before they stop blinking. Also, what does the one that looks like fire do? I can't figure it out. Sometimes it looks like it does nothing at all.
