I was wondering for those of you that have iPhones, how do you like them? It seems that the device would feel weird as a phone when you're using it. On the other hand, from what I've seen, the interface would beat all other phones to hell (unless you like to text without looking at your phone). I have an iPod touch and just a regular cell phone, which I don't use very often.

It rocks my socks off. I'd never go back to anything else now that I know this exists.

I love using it as a phone. I think it is a nice size but maybe I have gotten used to it, or just have big hands. I think texting on the iPhone is much better than on any other phone I have used before. Overall it my favorite cellphone I have bought so far, I love the combination of phone+ipod, the integration is too much.

On most days I would say I absolutely love my iPhone...but, today it decided to crash when I was updating my ebay app, and I now have to restore it. I'm in the process of restoring right now, and am hoping I can get my phone back to where it was a few hours ago.

It's a really good phone, but the battery is abysmal sometimes. I'd say get it.

Oh it would be waaay too expensive for a phone for me. I don't need anything fancy. Having used iPod touch, I can hardly imagine getting any other iPod, so I kind of know where you people are coming from. I just can't get over it being too clunky for a phone. Even blackberrys feel awkward when I use them.

It's perfect IMO. It's everything I need when I'm out, in one device. I can't imagine having a better gadget and even with the 3G release, I still like this one better.

The iPhone is great! I was using a Blackjack before it and I can text just as fast on it. The predictive spellcheck is by far better than anything I've ever seen on mobile or desktop word processing. The size is great too. You'd think it would feel big in your pocket or your hand when it's against your head, at least I did, but it's the opposite. Because it's so thin, I never notice it in my pocket, and Steve Jobs wasn't lying when he says it feels amazing in your hand. It doesn't feel clunky in the hand at all. Blackberries are thicker, without a uniform shape (one end is thicker and/or wider than the other end), and the screen is tiny compared to the real estate of the rest of the phone. If anything, having the iPhone for a while makes me think it's kind of small now. It's really the perfect size.
PS: I don't use a case for it, that would add to the thickness and the screen is practically unscratchable. But I'm not clumsy either.

I'm a giant fan of the iPhone. Loved the 1st gen, and the bit I've seen of the 3G version is even better.
I'm not a huge fan of AT&T, however. I previously had T-Mobile and I thought the service was better in my area. However, if you're already used to AT&T's service, that might not even be an issue.

I agree with you about AT&T. That was a bad move of Apple's. Now that Verizon is buying Alltel, that is the way to go in my opinion. For the US anyway.

I LOVE my iPhone. I got a Treo 650 when they first came out on Cingular (paid $450 on launch day) and I loved it back then. The biggest reason was it solved the problem of having to carry my PDA and cell phone. Then I got an iPod. I loved it, but never had it one me cause it was just another thing to carry in my pocket. The iPhone solved that. It's not just that though, man it's SO useful! I've never been so happy with a piece of personal electronics. Quick story: Yesterday, while I was out and about, I get a SMS that a server I manage was down. I couldn't remember which one it was, and was able to look in my support DB for the machine, check my network monitoring apps for bandwidth issues, and finally issue commands to the power management system to reboot the machine. All of this took while standing next to my wife at a doll convention (yes, I know, played A LOT of AF that day) and only took 5 minutes at the most. P.S. as for the battery issue. I bought this from Kensington: us.kensington.com/html/15462.html within a short time, my battery was back to full!!

Update on my iPhone issue:
I restored my iPhone, and thankfully I had synced it to my computer a few days prior. Restore took about 2 hours and it restored it to everything I had when I last synced it. I am extremely happy about this, as I thought I would loose everything. Once again, I am back to loving my iPhone (and AF!). ;D

I love my iphone, especially after this whole 2.0 deal. 2.0 gave me EVERYTHING I wanted in a smartphone. I'm not a fan of holding the phone itself up to my head, but the little earbuds that come with it solve that problem (I don't really talk on it enough to need a Leebo-esque bluetooth device hanging off the side of my face, so I have no problem plugging the earbuds in to talk). And really, though the shape of the thing doesn't lend itself to comfortable cheek-shoulder cradling, my aversion to holding a phone while talking is more because I need to be able to be doing something with my hands while I'm talking. Personally, I was an existing AT&T customer on a family plan, so the whole AT&T set-up actually worked in my favor. If I had been a part of a different carrier, I probably would not have gone ahead and bought it (I can't afford an exorbitant phone bill). That's also why I'm glad I have the 1st gen phone and not the 3g: what you save in price initially is meaningless after a couple months of phone bills, ESPECIALLY if you converted from a different carrier. Now, if you're cool with paying around $100/mo and you can afford it, then all the more power to you! Personally, I'm more than happy to have paid what I did initially. It's already more than paid for itself. Battery life does suck, but I just keep it plugged in constantly. If it bothered me enough, I could invest in a battery extender of some sort, but to date I'm cool with it. I prefer its little touch-keyboard, too. I can't STAND typing on any other phone now. And the iPhone has the best intuitive typing of any phone I've ever tried, hands-down. It also totally syncs with anything I do on my computer, which is fabulous. When I was shopping for phones and trying to talk myself out of an iPhone, I just couldn't force myself to like the way others were set up (and I seriously did try). Either they were all teenagery texty-musicky, useless, or unpalatably Windows-based. (No offense, PC people) (I use one of the rubber marware cases, too. It's simple, cheap, and came with little screen protectors. I just wish they had it in green ) So on the whole, it's perfect for me. It keeps me organized (and man I need all the help I can get there) and entertained. *PS) +points and my undying love for anyone who knows who Leebo is.

I forgot about headphones. That would probably look weird, but then, so do the bluetooth things. For those of you who say you like the touch type, what do you think of WritingPad ( phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=285484703&mt=8)? I personally think it beats the Apple touch typing system to the ground. If there were a copy-paste, I would use this to write everything and just copy over, but alas…

I love the iphone. It works really great for me and I love that it is native Apple. Everything that it does works relatively well and when there is a problem, the support is there.
It is nice to only have one device to carry around most of the time and its usefulness is totally extraordinary.
It is a good phone. The phone functions work really well and I think unless you have small hands it is a good size. And even though you may not use the phone that much its functions and usefulness and integration into one device make it perfect for those people who are trying to minimize. I think the visual voicemail alone is worth the phone switch
But it is a good phone that has even better capabilities/possibillities. All I know is that it has been the answer to my woes!
