Updated and character is gone. Hifril was char name. Not sure how to know it updated. Usually played on home where on wifi all the time.

same thing happened to me. my account is now karmic level 0 neophyte.
i used to be a level 2 crafter named hamoroct, i spent weeks to master all the rescources and was 8/8 in time stopper, but oh well, i quit now.

I also lost all of my levels when updating even though the account name is correct. The account name is rathamon. I was almost 8/8 on everything to.

Good news! I restored from a july version of my ipod, now AF works with my original profile ("Qqq"). I wonder if the devs did anything or was it just a stroke of luck ?

I found the game's backup data stored on my PC. Yes, we can recover the data! Here's how to do it: **** STEP 1: PC Navigate to (mac) /Users/[user name]/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications/ (win) C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\ Make sure iTunes is NOT running. Then, take a look at "Aurora Feint xx.ipa" ... 1) Find the one created on the end of July. (July version) 2) Find the one with largest number. (latest version) 3) Delete the latest version 4) Rename July version to the latest version. (e.g. Aurora Feint 1.ipa to Aurora Feint 2.ipa) **** STEP 2: iPhone / iTouch Tap and hold on the icon on iPhone. Then tap the "x" button to uninstall. Note that this deletes your recent mining data. Reboot your iPhone / iPod touch after uninstallation. **** STEP 3: Sync Plug your device and sync it. iTunes will reinstall Aurora Feint and the data. Now your old data is back! [Note] After this process, automatic update may not work. In such a case, go to App Store on PC, search for "Aurora Feint" and download the entire app.

This worked for me. After reverting to the August 9 version, I simply mined for a few minutes, connected to community and let the iPhone sit for a few minutes. I then went to the App Store, redownloaded the App, synced it with my iPhone, and it is working like a charm.

i updated with wifi and my account was gone! after a while my iphone got stuck and i had to reinstal the iphone. after that i had my old account back(not updated)! i think i will not update the game again this time

So I posted a comment about this on a different thread, and received the following responce. it must have something to do with updating with itunes, because i downloaded straight to the phone and it did not delete it. So now I am left wondering, if this is true. And, assuming by the previous threads, all of us downloaded this from iTunes on the computers. That isn't it, because I download from the phone, and my account was deleted.

If your game didnt successfully sync to our servers before and uninstall and reinstall you will lose data up to the last sync. If that last sync was "create character" you will have your name and none of your levels. If that last sync was recent you lose nothing. In a future release (probably the next since this is such an issue) we will be adding a visual note in game of whether your account is up to date on our servers. If you are not up to date you need to get the iphone or itouch on the wifi and sync before reinstalling or removing the app. If you need to do this for any reason before i put this notification in, please make sure to try and start the app while on the internet. When an app is updated via itunes or the phone appstore it removes the old application and install the new one. During this process you save files are deleted. When you start the game you see the "verifying account" popup... If that fails you will be asked to create a new character as if you do not have one. "Verifying account" is fetching your old save files from our servers. I'm sorry, but that isn't the case. My signature here displayed my previous levels accurately, which means that my account was syncing properly. I don't know if this information helps, but I played just before the update, and hit a monstrous multiplier bug that maxed out everything! My account was reset, but my signature data was not!

However, you need to understand how incredibly frustrating this bug is. I have had my account vanish after each of the last three updates, with no workable way to retrieve all of the hours I've spent building up a character. I really don't understand why you have to have such an incredibly complicated game saving process. Why can't you just let me create an account with name and password (like I did on these boards) and then have a login screen on the game? It could save when you quit, and also have a manual save button on the character screen. This would not only solve this problem, but would've enabled me to take my game from my iPod Touch and transfer it to my iPhone when I upgraded. I can only imagine as soon as you start having more RPG elements how much more frustrating this bug could become. Just because this game is on a phone/iPod, there's no reason to have some newfangled autosave system. Please seriously rethink your approach to this.

well looks like I lost my account also...lvl 56ish.
My 3G iPhone was connected to the internet via wifi and I download the app directly to my phone. I had played a couple of days ago before the update and my info was just fine, as a matter of fact I played about 10 minutes before I applied the update and my account was fine.
The 2 theories that you have posted regarding it being a bug through iTunes and or our account not syncing from not being connected to the internet are obviously wrong.
Is there anyway for you to correct this problem? If not you just lost another person who actually enjoyed your game...there is no way I am starting over when it was our update that has caused the problem.
At least give us a "true" explanation of the problem is.

WTF?
I've lost my account AGAIN. This is the second time this has happened. I am always connected to the internet. Always.
I've tried the fix where you use only the one .plist with your info. That didn't work.
I just tried the steps above by deleting the latest file and using an older file. That didn't work either.
As you can see below, this account that I have is active. It's not as big as my original account but that was lost forever.
I would have gladly paid $10 or maybe even more for this game but after having to go through this twice, I'm done.
I enjoy the game, the premise and the layout, but if this catastrophic error is something that is common (which I am seeing that it will be), then I am done with AF. I'll keep playing my boring $10 bejewled.

I had everything maxed and lost everything.... sucks (updated from my iPhone 2G)
I like the new version though, its a lot smoother, but with the combos the way they are I'm afraid the high levels may be unbeatable. I particularly enjoy the slowed down time after a match, haven't used all the tools because... well I can't yet. Hope you fixed the resources used in the blueprints because Having 24k of one type and 57 of another type is lame.
Also Dev.s please reduce the size of your app, 24 MB is ridiculous (I would prefer a quick backup to a one time nice looking video - delete it after its been played or stream it)
I'll post again if my restore is successful (I haven't synced yet so I will just delete the updated app)

I can understand everyone's frustration with this current bug because I too lost all my data. I was quite far along and have spent much more time on this game than I really should (major lack of sleep!!!). But, these developers have created an incredible game for any computer let alone a PDA even as great as the iPhone is. They are not charging for it, I assume, because it's in that trial period at the very beginning of any design venture. I guess had they called it Beta instead of "the beginning" people would not be getting so frustrated. If this game was not worth it people would not be as connected. I think, in our appreciation of an incredible product, we should keep our posts civil. These two have spent untold hours on this venture for no immediate financial gain. We are playing for free! I was devastated when it crashed and my data was gone just because I was so connected to this game which I never allow myself to get. Let's try to be helpful, to each other and the developers, in our posts so we can find solutions to the crash issues and all have an incredible experience in the future (which should be very soon). Even though they may not be able to recreate our data, I'm sure they'll figure out the problem and have everyone up and running very soon. I applaud their efforts!
