Happened to me too on an iPhone 3G. It said something about an error during the update process, though it installed fine. I've been playing since v. 1.0.0.0 and had managed to level up nicely.
My account name is Schweitzer, hope you can help me.

Same happened to me. The first time it synched it said it wasn't updated due to an unknown error. AF was then gone from my phone. I synched again and it was back - though when I started my account was gone. Darn - I was up to Master too. Ah well, back to the grind!

That is exactly what happened to me. The only diff is that I have and iPod Touch. This really dissapointed me! ---- Although, I wonder if they went ahead and cleared accounts because of the infinite multiplier glitch.

That happened to me as well. When I entered the mine after installing it didnt have that back arrow on the top left. I had to hit the home button to exit.
I lost all my data again so I have to start from scratch, getting tired of that. Our accounts should be tied to our cell phone numbers. We may change iphones more than we change phone numbers.
Can I get some crystals at least if I have to start from scratch again developers?

So I posted a comment about this on a different thread, and received the following responce. it must have something to do with updating with itunes, because i downloaded straight to the phone and it did not delete it. So now I am left wondering, if this is true. And, assuming by the previous threads, all of us downloaded this from iTunes on the computers.

This is terrible guys! I'm really sorry to hear this. The way accounts work is they are tied to your cell phone device right now. But, in order or it to be "saved" on our servers you must have access to the internet from your device. If you are using an iPhone, this is almost always the case. However, with an iTouch it's possible that you are not on a WiFi network with internet access (or no WiFi at all). In that case, if the game is ever removed from your device, you will lose your save data.
I haven't seen the update process fail before from iTunes, but if part of that is to "remove and reinstall" the app automatically, this is definitely something that can happen. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do.
My recommendation -- make sure you play while you are connected to the internet. It will avoid this problem in the future.
Sorry for the trouble!

My recommendation -- make sure you play while you are connected to the internet. It will avoid this problem in the future. I play this game on my iPhone, which is always connected to the Internet, and the update also deleted my account. In addition, once I realized that my account had been deleted, I exited the game, and now I cannot create a new character - going back to the game drops me into the mine straight away. As for the suggestion that it's the iTunes update that causes the problem, that can't be the case - I updated from the App Store on my phone and had the same problem. I'm really annoyed. Oh, and now I can't play at all - the app quits before it finishes loading. I guess it's deleted, then.

I popped onto the forum right after I saw there was an update! I downloaded the update through iTunes, then read this post... *nervous* So, I updated the app from my iPhone 3G, before Syncing. My saved game was still there! I played for 5 seconds, then tried to exit, at which point I got the "Low Memory" warning (posted about here), and had to click to exit the mine again. Exited the game normally, then Synced. After Sync (which took a while), I started AF, and all's well! Not sure if it's because I updated it first on the iPhone, or because I'm connected to the internet via WiFi... but I'm glad I saw this thread first. (As an aside, I prefer the original icon, too )

I've got a 16gb iPhone 3G.
I installed the latest update and all of my characters stats are gone and I'm back to lvl 0
For some reason the character NAME I originally chose was still present, but no stats, and I was no longer lvl 10, it was back to 0

[glow=ice,2,300]@jason Citron[/glow]: My iPod is connected to the internet more than 80% of the time. Additionally, prior to updating, I was playing while connected to internet. [glow=ice,2,300] aleph13[/glow]: I'm glad that this thread was able to assist you. The main reason I posted this was to help others avoid this issue. [glow=ice,2,300] @everyone else[/glow]: Now we get to start all over w/out the infinite multiplier. Which, in my case is not a bad thing.

@ Jason Citron: I understand that you can't take our word for what we claim to be our character stats as you have no way of confirming them. That's why it might be worthwhile to start back upping your servers, so you could "turn back the time" when these kinds of problems arise.

I seem to have a more insidious bug.
I updated over my wireless connection on my 3G iPhone yesterday, which was successful. Upon loading back up, my character name was saved, but I was once again level 0. However, if I try to enter the mine I get a message saying I must complete new challenges in order to level up. In other words, it's just not letting me level up period from level 0 regardless of how many crystals I get.
I needed an excuse to start over again anyway, so I guess this is it, but it seems like the cause of this bug can happen even when you only play/update via wireless (I didn't do it through iTunes).

If your game didnt successfully sync to our servers before and uninstall and reinstall you will lose data up to the last sync. If that last sync was "create character" you will have your name and none of your levels. If that last sync was recent you lose nothing. In a future release (probably the next since this is such an issue) we will be adding a visual note in game of whether your account is up to date on our servers. If you are not up to date you need to get the iphone or itouch on the wifi and sync before reinstalling or removing the app. If you need to do this for any reason before i put this notification in, please make sure to try and start the app while on the internet.
When an app is updated via itunes or the phone appstore it removes the old application and install the new one. During this process you save files are deleted. When you start the game you see the "verifying account" popup... If that fails you will be asked to create a new character as if you do not have one. "Verifying account" is fetching your old save files from our servers.

It looks like our accounts were only synced upon the initial a/c creation...so that's why we are now lv0 with the initial character name (i've renamed my character right after I created it...and this is not even synced with your server)
Anyway, thanks for wasting my time. I won't play until you fix all these stupid issues.
