Firstly hello been playing AF since I got my 2.0 played far too much over the last few weeks now I'm hooked. I only just found the forum so I thought I'd use it to ask about this topic. I have maxed all of my levels but was stuck on the "Master Preparation for Battle" challenges. I had come so close so many times but gave up temporarily due to frustration. (main problem was getting 100s of resources I didn't need only to realize after I died all I needed was 3 earth or something ) So anyways I got the new update today For those who don't know in the 1.0.0.1 version the requirements for the master (8/8) were: [Fire] [Water] [Earth] [Wind] [Shadow] Dreameater: [75] [75] [75] [75] [75] Alchemist: [75] [75] [75] [75] [75] Time Stopper: [75] [75] [75] [75] [75] Strategist: [75] [75] [75] [75] [75] Furie: [75] [75] [75] [75] [75] Sorcerer: [75] [75] [75] [75] [75] I forget the time you had for these but I seem to remember it was something like 4 Min's (240s) Now in version 1.0.1.0 the requirements are now: [Fire] [Water] [Earth] [Wind] [Shadow] Dreameater: [75] [250] [75] [250] [75] Alchemist: [?] [?] [?] [?] [?] already finished this one Time Stopper: [250] [75] [250] [75] [75] Strategist: [250] [250] [75] [75] [75] Furie: [100] [100] [100] [100] [100] Sorcerer: [75] [75] [250] [75] [250] Time limit 260s I was pretty frustrated so figured I'd practice lots and managed to ace the Furie one ... twice (I'll save that for a bug post). But even consistently getting x5 multipliers I cannot get near the resource requirement for those 250s. Is this a bug or a time sink?

Wow ! The 75's were had to get before [due to resource allocation in some categories] how in the world do you get to 250 !

It's not just the master levels. Even the level 6 challenges seem impossible now. You need well over 100. I was struggling to get 75.

I haven't even managed to hit the 75s consistently, when I loaded up a level 8 after updating I just kind of boggled. 250 doesn't seem possible, especially not across several categories.

Is there a way to go back to the previous version? I would update after getting to level 8 in each category.

Hey guys,
We did make things more difficult, but they are possible. I would recommend planning ahead using the tools. The tools combined with multipliers will help you get the resources quicker and with more efficiency.
There is a post in the forum somewhere on how to use the potion block and get a lot of points (and clear the whole screen). Each tool has its own awesome way to be used.

wow, you're kidding? even by clearing one screen with a tool we're supposed to get an extra 350 resources? i should have finished this before updating but i couldn't since the app kept crashing and i couldn't even get close to leveling.
guess i'm gonna have to practice.

I have seen this effect a few times while mining, but have never been able to successfully replicate it to any degree that would let me make up the amount being asked for, at least not with only three items. Though that may just be me. Though on that note, I'm not sure that the game should require esoteric knowledge of such a combo in order to even have a chance at passing a middling level.

I think the learning curve might be a little too steep in version 1.0.1.0. I started over from scratch on level 1 to get the full experience of the game. Except for Furie (which requires mining 5 of each element), each of the first level tools needs 10 each of 2 elements. No sweat. Each of the second level tools now needs 50 each of 2 elements (Previous versions needed 25 each of 3 elements.). That just seems like too much of a jump. I can understand wanting to make the game more challenging, but you run the risk of frustrating players early on, before they get the tools they carry on to Aurora Feint: The Continuation.
Another thing I've noticed in 1.0.1.0: It seems like the two specific materials you're mining for are much more scarce than the three other materials you still have to clear out. Was that done on purpose, or am I just imagining it?

We will check it out again and see if we can make the learning curve a little less steep. As for the resources you need being sparse... Either you are getting a bit unlucky or you are imagining things The blocks appear randomly with even weights.

Have I missed something? Because I've never had a tool appear in the smith. At the start I usually drag in a fury and alchemist but never see them in game and I've played alot of these puzzles. Am I doing something wrong?

@danielle: The comment made by other people about resources being sparse I don't think is referring to the abundance of resources as if you play as intended you tend to end up with equal amounts of each. The problem is how the challenges require them. This may have changes already so I apologize but in 1.0.0.1 the only resourices that mattered were air and water you could effectively forget the other three.
As nearly every challenge needs air and in many cases nothing else by getting the required amount to attempt a challenge again you end up getting more of the other resources and not using them.

Danielle, Snowhawk
About the resources needed being more sparse. I think Snowhawk actually means that the two resources needed most appear less frequently on the screen. I had exactly the same feeling in my own early attempts to solve the blueprints. Seems this is rather a psychological issue. You concentrate on two resources to do the challenge and therefore they appear less common. I've started to keep track of my resources mined. In 10 attempts of Alchemist - Essence of Under I my averages are 58.5 52.9 53.7 55.5 58.6 for 40 / 10 / 10 / 140 / 140 needed. So they are pretty much the same apart of me feeling early the ones I need are less common.
Optec - to use the tools. Drag them into the boxes when you buy the blueprint. Once you mine you can double tap a single block. This will open up a menu - asking you which tool to use. Select the tool and say okay. I did some screenshots and will add it to the FAQ. I know this has been asked many, many times - and answered a lot. But people still ask. So some screenshots might help.
So do the tools really boost numbers mined.
Well - I haven't managed yet to get much more with tools as without. I tried the alchemist - but setting up a whole screen takes time away from mining. And while it looks impressive to clean up a whole screen in one go - it seems not to help my overall numbers.
The other tools - apart of time stopper - I don't yet fully grasp. Yes - I read the description. But so far I seem not to have worked out how to use fury in a way to boost exactly the resource I need. Yep - there is still the option to add 3 tools at a time, do random shaking and pray : 0
Well - guess I need to work out how to optimize the tools. Alchemist is okay to boost overall numbers a little. Seems right now most of the gain is eaten up by the time it takes me to use the tool in an efficient means. Guess I need to work on that.
So far my best is 60+ of each without any tools.
Thod
PS: Oh - and since the update I didn't manage a single blue print. Got 105% on one (see visual bug - should have been 99%). So I'm close to some of the middle ones - but far, far off the higher ones. At least due to the combo bug I have all resources apart of Fire as 20K+ - so time to test or waste some on screenshots.

Danielle, how about instead of re-declining the amount of resources to a lower level, how about increasing the amount of usable tool blocks in a specific challenge?
Honestly, I have at least 150 of each and they're not going anywhere fast. I know what you mean about it being possible, but I have a problem with getting huge amounts of specific resources. I was about 5 and 6 blocks away from finishing the level 7 furie challenge before the update, but 140 seems a bit crazy.
However, if you foresee tool blocks having more of a use outside challenges, that will be alright and I'll attempt to sharpen multiplier skills.
